In Bourgas Bay sea froze twice - in 1929 and again in 1954. Freezing of the sea water due to severe weather conditions took over the Old Continent. The Baltic Sea is frozen, and some of Europe's largest rivers, and thousands of ships were blocked by ice. In Bourgas Bay ice cover was so thick (sometimes above 15 cm.) that some of the bravest people went for a walk with carts and carriages to the island of "Anastasia", Pomorie and Sozopol. Skating on the frozen sea and walks with their parents until the end of the old bridge and around the lighthouse has been an unforgettable experience for the children. Lake in Old Station become a makeshift ice rink where children gathered to skating.
